GENERAL FAQ AND MORE

ELD Mandate

All trucks are now required to have Electronic Logging Device
1. Device tracks driver’s hours
2. Device will be hardwired into the truck
3. Will shut the truck down upon reaching maximum hours
A driver’s day
1. Driver’s day starts as soon as truck is turned on
2. Driver can drive 11 hours at most in one day
  1. Driver will be required to take a 30-minute break during the day, after the first four hours of their day
  2. During break truck will have to be shut off
Counted hours
1. Once truck is started that is the start of the driver’s 11-hour day
2. That includes
  1. Driving
  2. Traffic
  3. Weather
  4. Shipper loading hours
  5. Receiver unloading hours
ELD automatically turns truck off
1. Truck is turned off once driver is out of hours by the DOT
2. Once the 11-hour mark is reached truck will have a 10-hour sleep period where truck must be shut off
  1. Driver will be fined for any violation such as not taking a break or driver has violated their hours of service for the day
Required reset
1. Driver is required to take a 34-hour reset after 7 days or after 60 hours driving
  1. Driver is not allowed to work more than 60 hours per 7 days
2. All count against drivers 11 hours of drive time
ELD’s cannot be tampered with
1. They are hardwired into the truck
2. Have battery backup as well as a GPS
3. DOT will plug into every trucks ELD when required to scale or for inspection
4. The truck will be shut down for 10 hours & company will be fined if it is found that ELD has been powered down, tampered with, or for any Hours of Service violation
